The main reason most people at least visit Kaikoura is the whales. Kaikoura offers a unique situation to see whales up close. They come so close into shore here because of the continental shelf come pretty close in shore. This brings all sorts of wildlife in close to shore, Sperm whales, Dolphin and Orcas are common sights.

‘On top of the Franz Joseph Glacier’
First explored by a chap called Julius Haast way back in 1865, the Glacier has most of the time been retreating back up the valley. The glaciers are form because the west coast is very wet, it rains an awful lot. The rain is pushed up the mountain where it falls as snow and compresses to form ice at a depth of 20m.
I was lucky enough a couple of years ago to visit Sydney, what was even better is that work paid for it. Sydney is one of those cities that look good during the day, but when the sun goes down and the lights come on the place becomes stunning. I hope you agree.

‘Kirkstall Abbey Leeds’
Only a couple of miles from the centre of Leeds is Kirkstall abbey. Largely a ruin now it was completed between 1152 and 1182, although there has recently been some restoration work to reroof part of the building. Kirkstall Abbey still stands substantially to its full height, its massive structure presenting a unique example of early Cistercian architecture.
I had a chance to go to Goteborg , in Sweden a few years ago with work.
Recently Goteborg been widely publicized in media all over the world as an up-and-coming city break destination, for culture, shopping, entertainment and, not least, for food and drink. I can confirm that the food is excellent there are a lot of little bars and restaurants around the water front which are worth visiting.
